BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- A year ago at this time fans at Bryant-Denny Stadium probably didn't give SEC newbie Texas A&M much thought.
But after the events of November 10, 2012 the Aggies have Alabama's full attention.
Alabama fan Frankie Davidson, who made the trip to hang out in the lobby at SEC Media Days, said, "I'll be honest with you, I just thought it was another SEC game, something to finally wrap up the western division but y'all sure did change our minds that day. After that we're like, well, we have another rival on our hands."
Tide fan Shannon Villa, sporting an Alabama national championship ring hat, agreed. "Aw man, I think we're gonna have a big rivalry on our hands. Our weakness seems to be Heisman candidates. Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel."
Nick Saban and the Tide will get another crack at Manziel and the Aggies September 14th, a day that's been circled on the calendar of Alabama fans for quite some time.
"Saban doesn't lose very often to a team twice," said Alabama fan Stephen Hyche. "I think it's going to be a very good game."
"When someone beats us, and especially with Saban's history we do put a chip on our shoulder. Hopefully we'll look at those chips and get 'em lined up right before September 14," said Davidson.
Villa is also looking forward to the game. "I mean, they're already building it up to the game of the century and I think it will live up to the hype."
Alabama will invade Kyle Field and take on the Aggies September 14 at 2:30 p.m.
