ANDERSON, TX -- Anderson-Shiro CISD had several students compete at the state level this past week in history, golf, and track.

On Saturday Gerald Fernandez claimed the Class 2A State Championship in the 300-meter hurdles at the UIL State Track Meet.

It was the first track state track title claimed by Anderson-Shiro in 36 years and the first 2A state championship won in any sport by Anderson-Shiro High School.

Tuesday Fernandez was honored for his gold medal feat with a campus wide celebration pep rally, that night the Board of Trustees honored its newest state champion.
