HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Sam Houston State handed Texas Southern a 7-3 loss Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference softball game at the Bearkat complex.
Texas Southern jumped out to a 3-0 lead with one tally in the opening inning and two more in the top of the third.
The Bearkats roared back with four runs in the bottom of the third on a pair of bases-loaded singles by Cecilia Castillo and Jessica Slater.
Tori Koerselman singled in Tayler Gray who walked to add another run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Pinch hitter Hannah Marino added a two-run single in the fifth inning.
Haley Baros was the winning pitcher in relief for the Bearkats.
Sam Houston travels to play at Louisiana-Lafayette Wednesday then returns to Huntsville for a three-game weekend Southland series with Lamar Saturday and Sunday.
