San Antonio – A two-run single by second baseman Courtney Buchman drove in the winning tallies as Texas-San Antonio rallied to defeat Sam Houston in a non-conference softball game Saturday afternoon at Roadrunner Field.
The Bearkats, now 8-11 for the year, took a two-run lead in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run homer by designated player Hillary Adams. The home run was Adams’ sixth of the season. The shot scored center fielder Tori Benavidez who had singled.
San Antonio, now 10-8 for the year, got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single by first baseman Joanne Graham.
Meme Quinn, who started and pitched four and one third innings for the Bearkats, took the loss. Alyssa Vordenbaum was the winning pitcher.
The Sam Houston softball team returns to Huntsville for only its second home game of the 2013 season Wednesday when they play host to Texas State.
