FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas coach Bret Bielema says quarterback Brandon Allen has yet to throw in practice this week and remains a game-time decision against Rutgers.
Allen initially hurt his right shoulder while diving for a touchdown against Southern Mississippi last week. The sophomore was replaced by junior AJ Derby, who led the Razorbacks (3-0) to a 24-3 win over the Golden Eagles.
Bielema says Allen's arm is no longer in a sling, and that he has taken part in practice this week. However, he has yet to throw a ball, and Bielema says he won't play Allen if he hasn't been cleared by doctors and isn't fully ready.
Bielema says Derby will start if Allen can't play with Austin Allen, Brandon's younger brother, serving as the backup against the Scarlet Knights (2-1).
