BIG 12 NEWS & NOTES (as of Monday morning, February 6)

Ø The Big 12 is third among conferences in the latest RPI. This would mark the fifth consecutive season the Big 12 has ranked among the top three in conference RPI.

Ø The Big 12 had three teams ranked in the top eight of the national polls for the third consecutive week.

Ø Three Big 12 teams are ranked in the top 10, the most of any conference in the nation. It is the 40th week in league history three teams have been in the top 10.

Ø The Big 12 is one of two conferences to have every one of its current teams ranked in the top 25 at least once since 2005. A minimum of four Big 12 squads have been ranked in 44 of the past 47 weeks.

Ø Eight Big 12 squads have 12 wins or more this season, with eight conference teams boasting a .545 winning percentage or better.

Ø The Big 12 has four players among the top 10 in free-throw percentage in the latest NCAA national rankings, the most of any conference.

Ø In non-conference play, the Big 12 has the nation’s best winning percentage versus nationally-ranked opponents, second-best overall winning percentage and fewest losses of any conference in the country.

Ø Big 12 teams combined for a 100-26 (.794) record in non-conference play - the second-best winning percentage in league history. The top three win percentages have been recorded in the past three seasons.

Ø Big 12 teams are 295-10 (.967) at home in non-conference play since the start of the 2009-10 season. League squads have won 250 of their last 259 non-conference matchups at home dating back to ‘09-10.

Ø The Big 12 led the nation in non-conference winning percentage in 2010-11. Big 12 squads are 128-36 versus non-league opponents since January 1, 2011.

Ø The Big 12 had two teams (Baylor, Missouri) start 14-0 for just the second time in league history and second time in the past three years. Texas (17-0) and Kansas (14-0) both reached the mark in 2009-10.

Ø Since 2007, the Big 12 has had more Consensus All-America selections than any other conference.

Ø Last season, the Big 12 had at least seven teams win 20 or more games for the fourth consecutive year.

Ø The Big 12 has had more NBA draft picks and more first-round choices than any other league since 2008.

Ø The Big 12 has had at least eight postseason teams in four straight years.

Ø At least one nationally-ranked team has been from the Big 12 every week since league play began in 1996-97.

Ø The Big 12 has sent six different teams to the Elite Eight in the past three seasons - the most of any conference.

Ø The Big 12 has earned 80 NCAA bids in its history, including 24 in the past four campaigns.
