BRENHAM For the second time in the past week, Blinn outfielder Tiffani McKnight has been selected for an All-America team.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) named McKnight a third-team All-American after leading the Buccaneers to 34 victories and an appearance in the Region XIV Conference Tournament semifinals. McKnight was named to the NJCAA All-America team last week.
A sophomore left fielder from Missouri City, McKnight led the Buccaneers with a .466 batting average. She hit 10 doubles, 10 home runs, drove in 46 runs and stole 15 bases to earn first-team All-Region XIV Conference and All-Region XIV South Zone honors.
As a freshman, McKnight hit .379 with nine doubles, nine homers, 51 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. She is the 24th Blinn player to earn All-America honors since 1996 and has signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Houston next season.
"When you hit over .400 and you have the RBIs and the hits and the power numbers she has, it's certainly well-deserved," Blinn head coach Rick Church said last week. "She's one of the best offensive players we've had here at Blinn."
Blinn finished this season with a 34-20 record and reached the Region XIV Conference Tournament semifinals. The program has made NJCAA National Championships appearances in 2003, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
