Bryan-College Station, TX (August 3, 2013)- The Brazos Valley Bombers jumped on the Generals right out of the gate, scoring six runs.
Ford Moore and Cody Lovejoy led off the bottom of the first getting themselves in scoring position for Brett Kauten who singled to bring in the first run of the game. A consecutive hit by G.R. Hinsley would bring in two more runs making the score 3-0. Another single by Blake Kopetsky would bring in Hinsley still with no outs in the inning. A couple more hits for the Bombers put runners in scoring position giving Andy Smith an easy RBI on a fielders’ choice. Ford Moore would bring in the final run of the inning on a RBI single to left field extending the Bombers lead 6-0.
The Bombers had other chances to score in the game, but double plays doomed their hopes of pouring on more runs. The Victoria Generals tried to fight back scoring two runs in the latter half of the game, but came up short on the comeback giving the Bombers the victory 6-2. Brandon Easterling started the game for the Bombers pitching seven innings, striking out seven, and only giving up two runs. Jason Gareri and Nick Johnson each pitched an inning to close out the game for the Bombers.
The Bombers will face the Victoria Generals on Sunday, Aug 4, 7:05 P.M. at American Momentum Bank Ballpark.
