Bombers Begin 4 Game Road Trip With 7-1 Loss To East Texas

KILGORE, Texas Bombers Fall to East Texas Pumpjacks
Brazos Valley Stumbles in 7-1 defeat
The Brazos Valley Bombers had a difficult day at the plate and on the mound as they were defeated by the East Texas Pumpjacks Tuesday night.

The Pumpjacks were able to get on the board first in the bottom of the second inning. East Texas designated hitter Bret Bitow was able to come around to score on one hit and one error in the second. The Pumpjacks increased their lead in the fourth inning when they scored after a walk and an error. East Texas led 2-0 after four frames.

The Bombers produced some offense in the top of the fifth inning when Brazos Valley designated hitter Cody Lovejoy singled and advanced to second with one out in the fifth. Later in the inning, shortstop Horacio Correa III hit an RBI single to score Lovejoy. This was the lone run that the Bombers were able to get across in the game.

The East Texas offense came alive in the bottom of the seventh inning as they were able to plate four insurance runs on five hits and a walk. The Pumpjacks also tacked on another run in the bottom of the eighth inning. East Texas led 7-1 after eight innings, and this proved to be the final score after the Bombers were shut down in the ninth.

Hayden Howard took the mound for the Bombers, striking out four batters through six innings of work. Logan Burch and Nick Johnson combined to pitch the seventh inning, and Caleb Hawkins pitched the eighth inning for the Bombers.

The Bombers have a rematch with the East Texas Pumpjacks on Wednesday. Brazos Valley returns to American Momentum Bank Ballpark Saturday, July 27 at 7:05pm as they once again face the Pumpjacks.
