Bombers Drop Only their 14th Game of the Season

Bryan-College Station, TX (August 4, 2013)- The Bombers were unable to get any offense going due to spectacular pitching by the Victoria Generals.

Opportunities with runners in scoring position were few to none for the Bombers the entire night. Base runners advanced past second base only in the first, fifth, and eighth inning. The Bombers fell behind early in the third inning after three runs crossed the plate off a couple of singles and a fielder’s choice. The Generals tacked on three more runs in the seventh and eighth inning to extend their lead 6-0.

However, the Bombers were able to get three runs back in the bottom half of the eighth. Herb Romero led off the inning hitting a triple and then scoring on a wild pitch. After A Brett Kauten single, G.R. Hinsley doubled to left field to bring in another run. Patrick McClendon then singled to right to bring in the third run of the inning.

Unfortunately, the Generals were able to add another three runs in the ninth to make the score 9-3 after a bases loaded situation went sour for the Bombers. One more run was brought in on a bases loaded walk, but that would be it for the Bombers. Bryce Rutherford started the game pitching five innings with six strikeouts and giving up three runs. To complete the game, the Bombers used four different pitchers out of their bullpen.

The Bombers will face the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Thursday, Aug 8, 7:05 P.M. at American Momentum Bank Ballpark.
