Bryan-College Station, TX - On Saturday night the Super Moon lit the way for the Bombers to take down the Generals with thirteen hits to Victoria’s three.
The Generals got on the board in the top of the first but Brazos Valley mirrored their accomplishments in the bottom of the inning when second baseman Horacio Correa III reached on a walk then was brought in on a single by left fielder Brett Kauten. In the bottom of the second the Bombers loaded the bases on walks then brought in center fielder Blake Kopetsky on a fifth walk. The Bombers led 2-1 after two innings.
Brazos Valley doubled their runs in the fourth when Correa reached first on a single then was brought in on a sacrifice fly by Kauten. Later G.R. Hinsley slammed a single that brought in Patrick McLendon, who reached first earlier on a single of his own. After four the Bombers held the lead at 4-1. In the top of the sixth Victoria added one to their tally, but couldn’t catch the Bombers, who increased their total by two in the bottom of the inning. After Kopetsky reached on a fielder’s choice, catcher Mason Randolph stretched a single all the way to third, allowing Kopetsky to come home. On the next at bat third baseman Hunter Hagler rocked a double to left that brought in Randolph, creating the final score of the game, 6-2.
Aggie pitcher Parker Ray took the mound for the Bombers, earning Player of the Game after throwing seven innings with only three hits and seven strikeouts. Jason Gareri and Nick Johnson both also made appearances for Brazos Valley to close out the game.
The Bombers return to American Momentum Bank Ballpark tomorrow, Sunday, June 23, to face the Victoria Generals at 7:05pm. Sunday is National Pink Day so be sure to dress to impress!
