Vidalia, LA The Senior League 15-and-16-year old girls of Bryan United took home two wins Monday night to advance to the Southwest Regional championship. United single-handedly knocked out the Texas West champs after defeating them a second time on Monday night. The game was pushed back two hours when the 4 p.m. game took 12 innings.
The delay did not trip up United, as they struck early and took no prisoners. They won their first game 19-7, sending home Zapata County from Texas. United then faced the host team from Vidalia, Louisiana immediately following their first game. Ultimately, the host team could not defend their stomping grounds when United defeated Vidalia 6-3.
The winner of the Southwest Regional will be declared Tuesday night, and will go to the Senior League Softball World Series starting August 4th. United must beat Louisiana twice to advance. The first game takes place at 6 p.m. Tuesday night, and the possible "If" game will be played at 8 p.m. if United takes game one.
