Bryan -- The Bryan football team lost to Lufkin 47-7 Friday night at Merrill Green Stadium in a district 14-5A game. The Vikings are now 1-3 in district play. Lufkin moves to 2-1 in district play.
The Panthers started the scoring in the first quarter on a Kendrick Mapp seven yard touchdown run. After a Lufkin field goal the Panthers find the end zone again on a Tyler Stubblefield 34 yard touchdown pass to Jabryce Taylor. Lufkin had a 17-0 lead after one quarter.
In the second quarter Trey Cumbie was in at quarterback for Lufkin. He threw a nine yard touchdown pass to KeKe Coutee to make it 24-0. Mapp would score on a one yard touchdown run to push the Lufkin lead to 31-0. Stubblefield would throw touchdown passes to Kyler Henson and Taylor to make it 44-0 Lufkin at the half.
The Panthers would add a third quarter field goal to make it 47-0. The Vikings would score their only touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter on a Chris Johnson one yard touchdown run.
Bryan will be on the road October 26 to face The Woodlands at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah.
