Bryan beats Belton in extra innings to sweep series

MUMFORD, Texas -- Austin Gallego drove in two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Bryan past 12-5A rival Belton 6-5 and into the 5A Region II Semifinals.

The Vikings beat Belton 4-2 Thursday then completed the series sweep with the extra innings win today.

Belton rallied from an early 3-1 deficit to take a 4-3 lead in the fourth. The Vikings tallied one in the sixth to tie it, saw Belton grab a 5-4 lead in the top of the eighth, then won it thanks to Gallego's heroics in the bottom of the inning.

Bryan advances to face Round Rock McNeil in the regional semifinals.

Game 1: Thursday, 7 pm, Mumford
Game 2: Friday, 7 pm, Dell Diamond - Round Rock
Game 3: Saturday, TBA, Dell Diamond - Round Rock (if necessary)
