The College Station Lady Cougar soccer team battled Harker Heights Tuesday night at Cougar Field, winning 1-0. The Cougars outshot the Knights 12-5, but it took until the 79th minute for the Cougars to score. Jaylen Hinckley had the ball in the corner and dropped it back to B Soltis who blasted it off a Harker Height defender. The ball bounced to Courtney McGrew at the top of the 18 yard line. McGrew hit a low shot into the left corner, just outside the reach of the otherwise perfect Knight goalkeeper. The Cougar were led defensively by JJ Handy, Megan Barrett and Maddie Jenkins. Goalkeeper Christina Hendershot recorded the shutout, her 5th of the year.
The Lady Cougars (7-2) travel to Bryan on Thursday for the Brazos Cup, opening with Katy High at SFA on Thursday at 1pm.
