The Caldwell Hornets came into Fridays game without a single win on the season but with the start of district play, one win could mean all the difference.
Hosting the 3-5 Taylor Ducks, Caldwell would take an early lead 7-0 when quarterback Brett Gilchrist finds Jonathan Jackson from 20 yards out.
Taylor would answer back in a big way scoring 14 unanswered points including an Isaac Franco rushing touchdown from 27 yards out as the Ducks take a 14-7 lead at the half.
Homecoming king Antwan Heath ties up the game with a run up the middle to start the third but once again the Ducks go on a scoring run.
They score 8 points off of a safety and a TD from quarterback Jeremy Snyder but the PAT was no good.
Hornets come back after Gilcrest scores from 2 yards out with an unsuccessful two point try to make it a 22-20 Taylor lead.
Caldwell got the ball back with 98 yards to go to win the game and two minutes to do it. Antwan Heath gets things going with a huge 52 yard run. Then Gilcrest finds Jackson again to give Caldwell the 26-22 lead.
Hornets hold on to win their homecoming game 26-22.
