Coach Sherman Talks Up 2011 Season At Capital City A&M Club

AUSTIN, TX -- For the first time as the head coach of the Texas A&M Football team Mike Sherman walked into the Capital City A&M Club's Coaches Night following a win over arch rival Texas.

Back in November the Aggies beat Texas 24-17, it was the team's first win over Texas in Austin since 2006.

Before the event Coach Sherman held a question and answer session with the media. The questions centered mostly about the team and outlook for the 2011 season which appears promising.

Of course lately there have been lots of tweets and postings on social media sights about the health of the Big 12 Conference and whether Texas A&M might bolt to the Southeastern Conference sooner rather than later.

"I don't think about those things," said Sherman. "We have a President, Board of Regents, AD who takes care of that stuff and certainly look out for the best interest of Texas A&M. "My job is to win football games and that's what I concentrate on."

It was just 13 months ago when Nebraska and Colorado announced they were bolting for the Big 10 and Pac 12 respectively, now the hang up appears to be Texas' Longhorn Network which is set to come on line next month.

It's been reported that Texas officials plan on airing high school football games, in particular ones involving recruits interested in playing at Texas.

It's a recruiting tool that no other Big 12 school has and allows Texas to market itself like no other member school.

The LSN (Longhorn Sports Network) may be the reason that the Texas A&M Board of Regents has an agenda item labeled "Big 12" that it plans on discussing when they meet Thursday in College Station.

Sherman will address the Brazos County A&M Club's Coaches Night next Tuesday (July 26) at the Zone Club on the Texas A&M Campus in College Station. A year ago the event raised over $32,000 for endowed scholarships.
