BRYAN, Texas -- The College Station Lady Cougars defeated the Rudder Rangers in soccer tonight 3-2 at Rudder. The Rangers went up 1-0 in the first half on an indirect kick. Midway through the second period Cougar Courtney McGrew won a ball from a deflection and scored from just outside the 18. The Rangers fired back with a strong counterattack by Lexy Serna and made the score 2-1 Rudder with 15 minutes left in the match. With 4:29 left in regulation McGrew again gathered a deflected ball and shot a curving ball just outside the Rudder keeper's reach. Both teams battled hard during the double overtime period. At the end of the second OT, McGrew took a corner kick that found an open Lauren Spohn in the middle of the goal who knocked it in for the Cougar goal with 10.9 seconds remaining. Haley Wager also play very well for the College Station defense.
Next action for the Cougars (16-5-1, 7-0) is Friday night at 7pm in Sealy.
