COLLEGE STATION, TX -- Friday night will be a historic evening for the College Station Cougars as they play their first football game at Cougar Stadium against Waco Reicher.

Steve Huff and Cougars opened up the season last week on the road and suffered a 35-8 loss to Schulenburg.

Turnovers was the biggest problem, but Huff liked the effort his young team demonstrated against the Shorthorns.

Obviously there is lots of excitement surrounding the program this week leading up to the home opener on Friday.

"It's a big time at College Station High School," said campus athletic coordinator and head football coach Steve Huff. "The kids are excited about it. We had a meet the Cougar night on Monday and will have a pep rally on Friday. We have a lot of first right now, but we're really looking forward to it."

Kickoff is set for 7:30 at Cougar Stadium in College Station.

News 3 Sports will be live during our 6pm newscast on Friday to talk more with coach Huff about the first home game for the Cougars and have highlights on Taco Bell's Friday Football Fever which kicks off at 11:35 on the regions news leader KBTX News 3.
