College Station Cougars Move Into First Place Tie in 18-3A Following 5-2 Win Over Caldwell

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The College Station Cougar baseball team knocked off 10th ranked and 18-3A District leader Caldwell 5-2 Friday night at Cougar Field.

The Cougars scored first in the bottom of the first on a hot shot to shortstop by Baylor Rowlett driving in Cody Staab.

In the 2nd the Cougars will double their advantage on Cole Whittlesey's bloop single to right allowing Walker Davis to score to make it 2 to nothing.

In the 3rd, Caldwell will cut the Cougars lead in half on the RBI double down the left field line by Landon Couch driving in Dylan Drgac.

College Station will answer with a pair of unearned runs in the home half of the third to make it 4-1.

Both teams will trade runs in the 5th and College Station goes onto win it 5-2 creating a first place tie between the two teams in District 18-3A Baseball Standings.

In the first meeting in Caldwell last month the Hornets posted a 10-3 win. Caldwell will look to rebound on Tuesday as they travel to Madisonville to take on the Mustangs. College Station will hit the road for Rockdale to take on the Tigers Tuesday.
