College Station Lady Cougars shut out Navasota

NAVASOTA, Texas -- The College Station Lady Cougars defeated Navasota 5-0 tonight at Brule Stadium in Navasota. Five minutes into the match, outside back Maddie Jenkins started a nice combination play with a ball to Lexi Bullard. Bullard touched it wide to Madison Kothmann who slid the ball in to Steele Fancher. Fancher's goal would leave the score at 1-0 for the next 30 minutes. Just a few minutes before half, Kothmann chased down a ball headed for the Rattler keeper, getting to it just in time to play it in for the second Cougar goal. Early in the second half College Station struck quickly, scoring goals from Kothmann and Kinsey Rhome just minutes apart. The Cougars final goal came with 15 minutes remaining when Fancher played a square ball behind herself to Jaylen Hinckley who scored on the first touch. With the win, the Cougars (15-5-1, 6-0) secure a spot in the playoffs in their first year of existence Next action is Tuesday at Rudder High School at 5pm.
