A judge was reprimanded for posting on Facebook a reference to the fact that Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M had been issued a speeding ticket, multiple media outlets reported.

Manziel recently received a ticket in Ennis, which is outside Dallas, and Judge Lee Johnson wrote about it on Facebook. He did not mention Manziel by name but called him "a certain unnamed (very) recent Heisman Trophy winner." He also wrote, according to WFAA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth, "It appears that even though the OU (Oklahoma) defense couldn't stop him, the Ennis PD is a different story altogether. Gig 'em indeed,"

Ennis City Manager Steve Howerton wrote an apology Friday on the remarks, according to WFAA-TV, calling them "insensitive and inappropriate."

"Receiving a traffic ticket is not a humorous matter," the statement read. "Further, it is not the policy of the City of Ennis to indiscriminately publish the identity of traffic ticket recipients or to publicly lecture them."

According to the TV report, Howerton said Johnson has worked in public service for 25 years and had an unblemished record. Howerton said Johnson attempted to apologize to Manziel and that the incident is still under investigation.
