COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M softball freshmen Cali Lanphear and Breanna Dozier were selected to ESPN’s Top 100 Recruits List for softball, the outlet announced.
Lanphear (Montgomery, Texas) took the 33rd spot on the list with Dozier (Rowlett, Texas) following at No. 64.
Lanphear is a left-handed hitter who signed as a catcher in November of 2011. She is a 2011 Texas Girls’ Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State catcher and led Montgomery High School to three state championships and helped the team to a state runner-up finish in 2012. She spent three seasons on the District 17-4A first team and was named the district MVP as a senior. In June, Lanphear was selected as the ESPNHS Player of the Week in the Midlands Region.
Dozier is a third baseman and a power hitter who took First Team All-DFW honors as a junior while leading the team to a Bi-District Championship and earning District Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2011. She was one of the top offensive players in the Dallas-Fort Worth area during her high school career in batting average, doubles, triples, home runs and RBI.
The honorees will join the Aggies this fall for the 2012 exhibition season which kicks off on Oct. 3 with a doubleheader against Blinn College at the Aggie Softball Complex. To learn more about Texas A&M softball, log on to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieSoftball on Twitter.
