BRYAN, Texas -- Lee Fedora and his Navasota Rattlers punched their ticket to the Class 3A Division II State championship game with a 24-7 win over Bellville last Friday night.

Now it's off to Cowboys Stadium to take on Gilmer in Friday's title tilt at 4pm.

While this is Fedora's first shot at a State Championship as a head football coach, back in 1989 he played in the 4A State championship game as an All-State wide receiver at A&M Consolidated.

The Tigers got beat that day by Chapel Hill, and 23 years ago Lee said it was something he'd never forget.

"Being 14 and 1 that's something I would have never dreamed of and it's here something I'm going to have to live with. It's going to hurt all the way until I die, but something to be proud of and something to tell our children and stuff," said the A&M Consolidated Senior.

"I know I've used my experience too saying I was there and I played for it and we didn't play what we had started and that's something that sticks in your side the rest of your life," continued the 15 year high school head football coach.

Not only will Lee draw on that experience, but also two of his old Consol teammates Clif Groce and Ray Kavanaugh are also on his staff, along with former Consol defensive coordinator Bill Hoppers who is now the Rattlers defensive coordinator.
