Five Aggie Golfers Chosen to Compete in LPGA Qualifier

Five Aggie women’s golfers have been selected to participate in the North Texas Shootout College-Am tournament on Tuesday, March 12 at the Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas.

Seniors Sarah Beth Davis and Mary Michael Maggio along with juniors Katerina Ruzickova, Chelsea Mocio and Natalie Reeves have been selected by the North Texas Shootout Amateur Selection Committee to complete in the event.

"It is a great honor to have five girls chosen to represent the 18 player qualifier,” Head Coach Trelle McCombs said after the participants were announced. “I believe we will have the most players chosen from any university."

The participants were required to be college students and submit a resume with results and rankings with emphasis placed on the last years performances. The 18 college players selected to participate in the inaugural 18-hole event determine the two players who will earn the opportunity to compete against the best professionals in the world at the North Texas LPGA Shootout.

The two collegiate players with the lowest score qualify for exemptions into the LPGA tournament. The third and fourth place finishers will earn exemptions into the LPGA Monday Qualifier (April 22, 2013) for the LPGA tournament. In the event of a tie for second place and/or fourth place, there will be a play-off immediately after regulation play.

The Aggies will be back in action Mar. 31-Apr. 2 at the San Diego State Invitational in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
