The Franklin Lady Lions got free throws from Regan Blajeski and Kyla Walker with under a minute to play to beat previous unbeaten Central Heights (35-1) 72-69 in the Class 2A Region III semifinals at Johnson Coliseum at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Franklin (29-5) trailed 19-14 at the end of the first quarter and 40-31 at the half. John Shelton's Lady Lions would close the gap to 55-51 heading into the fourth quarter.
Lady Lions tied the game at 64 with 2:22 left to play and again at 69 with 1:11 to play. Blajeski's free throw with 54.8 to go put Franklin up for good.
Franklin will take on Crawford Saturday at noon with the winner advancing to the State Tournament next week in Austin.
