Galveston Tops Blinn in 13-inning Pitchers’ Duel

The Blinn College baseball team will play to keep its season alive today after suffering a 2-1 loss to Galveston College in a 13-inning marathon game that ended early this morning.

With the loss, the Buccaneers will play an elimination game against Alvin Community College at 1 p.m. today. The winner of that game will play again at 8 tonight.

Galveston scored its game-winning run on a two-out RBI single in the 13th inning. Thanks to an 11 p.m. start, the contest was well into the early-morning hours when Galveston pushed across the winning run.

Blinn scored its only run of the game in the first inning on an RBI single by freshman third baseman Eric Wood. From there, the Galveston pitching staff would hold the Buccaneers in check. Jake Kane and Eric Wood each had two hits for the Bucs.

The Buccaneers got outstanding pitching throughout the game. Sophomore Trevor Seidenberger went 8 2/3 innings, allowing one run on his hits. He struck out four.

Christian DeLeon came on in relief, allowing one run in 4 2/3 innings.
Blinn rallied from a 6-0 deficit to defeat Texarkana College 11-6 in the first round of the tournament on Sunday.

Sophomore Kevin Hahn, an all-conference selection, is slated to pitch for the Buccaneers against Alvin.
