Garrett Selected to SEC Community Service Team

By  |

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M softball junior Allison Garrett represents the Aggies on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Softball Community Service Team, the league office announced today.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.

Garrett (Austin, Texas) has volunteered for local charities at several events through the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). In her three years at A&M, the junior has worked at Aggies CAN – a student-athlete run food drive for the Brazos Valley Food Bank, and has volunteered at Hard Hats for Little Heads – a bike safety program for local youth. Garrett has also helped at Aggie Athletics’ Film on the Field and has sorted food at the BVFB. As a sophomore, she volunteered at the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics and this year Garrett walked in the Brazos Valley “Walk to End Alzheimer’s”.

Garrett and the Aggies travel to Lexington, Ky., this week for the SEC Championships. No. 9 seed A&M will face eighth-seeded Alabama in a Wednesday play-in game at 3 p.m. CDT on ESPNU. The winner of that game will play No. 1 seed Florida in the quarterfinals at 10 a.m. CDT Thursday on ESPNU. To learn more about Texas A&M softball, log on to and follow @AggieSoftball on Twitter.
