COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Junior guard Fabyon Harris scored 28 points and senior Elston Turner added 21 to lead the Texas A&M men’s basketball team to a 97-83 exhibition win over Incarnate Word Saturday night at Reed Arena.

Harris, a Chicago, Ill., native and first-year Aggie guard, knocked down 11-of-15 field goals attempts on the night, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range.

Joining Harris and Elston Turner as offensive standouts in the exhibition were freshman J’Mychal Reese and senior Ray Turner, who chipped in 15 and 13 points, respectively.

“It was obvious that it was an exhibition game,” Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy said. “Incarnate Word was a tough match up; they played four guards a lot. Our post guys struggled defensively and our guards struggled defensively as well. We really didn't have a presence in the paint offensively but I think we learned a lot about our team.”

Sophomore forward Kourtney Roberson added a game-high 13 rebounds in the contest for the Aggies, who held a 49-34 advantage on the glass.

“There were some good things tonight,” Kennedy added. “The guys are still trying to establish their roles and their identity. I would have liked to move the ball better and have a post presence against this team; that was probably the most disappointing thing. When we played with the smaller line-up tonight I thought we did better.”

Neither team shot well in the opening 20 minutes as the Aggies took a 46-41 lead into the intermission. Following halftime, however, Texas A&M heated up to shoot 56.8 percent in the period while outscoring the Cardinals 51-42.

For the contest, the Aggies made 26-of-33 shots (78.8 percent) from the free throw line.

Junior guard Kelcey Solomon led Incarnate Word in scoring with 23 points on the night.

The Aggies officially tip off the 2012-13 campaign on Friday, Nov. 9, against Louisiana Tech at Reed Arena.
