HEARNE, Texas -- JaMarcus Johnson nailed a deep three-pointer at the buzzer to lift Hearne to a 67-64 regular season ending victory over Hempstead Tuesday night.
The Eagles were seemingly in control up 64-50 with 2:51 to play, but Hempstead forced turnovers to get back in the game. Fred Tompkins grabbed an offensive rebound and scored with ten seconds to play to tie it, but the Bobcats could not come up with the final stop to force overtime.
Johnson led the Eagles with 26 points. Shaquille Brown added 17.
Tompkins topped Hempstead with points.
Hearne is playoff bound with a matchup still to be determined.
