STILLWATER, OK -- Josh Holliday has been hired as Oklahoma State's baseball coach, becoming the first former Cowboys player to lead the program.

Holliday played in two College World Series for Oklahoma State in 1996 and 1999 and said upon his hiring Friday that he had always hoped he'd get the chance to be the head coach of the program.

He most recently was an assistant coach at Vanderbilt for three seasons, and before that was an assistant at Arizona State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State and Oklahoma State.

The 35-year-old Holliday is the son of former Oklahoma State coach Tom Holliday, and his brother is St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday.
