The Panthers return an experienced team in 2013. They should be used to the new coaches and new system and ready to challenge for a playoff spot.
Head coach Kevin Morton said, "I think we're a whole lot further along than we were at this time last year. The kids have been through the off-season program and put in the same terminology, the same system for the whole year and I think we like what we're seeing right now."
Normangee returns seven starters on offense and ten players who made starts last season on defense. Elijah Eastern is back under center with a year of experience under his belt, and he will have some good weapons to work with. Bryson Cornish and Shane Conrad are a good pair at running back, while Austin Aguirre returns as a play maker at receiver.
Five returning Panthers earned some sort of all-district honor last season on defense, led by defensive end Colton Jones. Jones teams up with Israel Puga and Blake Shaw on a formidable defensive line. Kody Harris and Cornish are back at linebacker, and Eastern, Aguirre, and Conrad return in an experienced secondary.
Normangee opens with four of their first six games on the road, all the better to get them battle tested for district play where they get two of three contests at home.
