The Sam Houston State women’s basketball team rolled to a 99-44 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor in an exhibition game Saturday night at Johnson Coliseum.
Guard Amanda Barnes scored 15 points and hit a pair of threes in the Bearkats win in the final tune up before the beginning of the regular season.
A pair of freshmen guards were impressive in their Bearkat debuts. Taylor Dorsey scored 13 points and Morghen Day added 12. They both hit a pair of three-pointers.
Forwards Jazmin Wiley and Nyha Carter each scored 11 points and senior guard Jasmine Johnson had 10 points.
SHSU had six players score in double figures in the game.
Taylor Tucker was the only Mary Hardin-Baylor player to score in double figures, with 18 points. She also added three rebounds.
The Bearkats open the regular season on the road against Arkansas, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. The home opener for the Kats is against Louisiana-Lafayette Fri., Nov. 15, at 11:30 a.m.
