NAVASOTA, TX -- The Navasota High School girls' basketball teams both got big wins tonight at home against Hempstead. The combined freshman and Junior Varsity team defeated Hempstead's JV 36-17. Dee Robinson had 9 points to lead the way while Dariah Anderson had 8 and Kaitlyn Raper scored 6 points.
The varsity won 67-22 to improve their season record to 5-1.. 11 of
the 12 players got into the scoring column with three hitting for
double figures. Alexus Freeman led all scorers with 11 while both
Denisha Ford and Lanell Hayes had 10 each. Freshman post Tashyra
Banks, playing in her first varsity game, scored 8 points while
freshman Molly Love also scored 8 points.
The varsity will be back in action this Thursday morning in the
opening round of the 12th annual Rattler Shoot Out Classic when they
host Waller at 9:00 am.
The Rattlers have won the championship in 8 of the first 11
tournaments. Waller won last years event. In addition to Navasota
and Waller, Caldwell, Giddings, Bellville, Bay City and Austin
Crockett will participate in the Classic.
