MAGNOLIA -- The Rudder Rangers lost to Magnolia West 30-24 Friday night in a district 18-4A game at Mustang Stadium. The Rangers are now 2-2 in district play. West is also 2-2 in district play.
The Mustangs got the scoring started on a Brady Bynum one yard touchdown run. Bynum would add a seven yard touchdown run later in the opening quarter to help the Mustangs take a 13-0 lead to the second quarter.
Rudder would kick a field goal to get on the scoreboard. Tre Guyton would follow that up with two second quarter touchdown runs. The Rangers led 17-13 at halftime.
West jumped back in front 19-17 after a Bynum two yard touchdown run. The Ranger special teams would get the lead back. A bad snap on a Mustang punt allowed Willie Richard to pick up a loose ball and return it for a touchdown. Rudder was up 24-19 at at point but West would score the final 11 points of the game to pick up the win.
Rudder will be back at Merrill Green Stadium October 12 to host Waller. West will be at Magnolia on October 12.
