COLLEGE STATION, TX -- It’s basketball season once again in Aggieland as the Texas A&M men’s basketball team will tip-off its 2012-13 campaign Friday night at Reed Arena with an 8 p.m. contest against Louisiana Tech.

The game will be televised on FSN with Dave Baker and Larry Conley calling all the action. Check with your cable provider for coverage in your area.

Texas A&M is kicking off its 101st season of basketball and will be under the direction of second-year head coach Billy Kennedy who welcomes back nine letterwinners from last season’s squad as well as seven talented newcomers.

Among the familiar faces back on the court this season will be returning starters senior guard Elston Turner (Sacramento, Calif.) and junior center Keith Davis (Dallas, Texas). Turner led the Aggies in scoring last season at 13.8 points per game, while Davis was a force on the defensive end, averaging nearly four rebounds a contest with a team-best 19 blocks.

Senior forward Ray Turner (Houston, Texas) and sophomore forward Kourtney Roberson (Arcadia, La.), whose season was cut short last season due to an injury, highlight seven other returner letterwinners for the Aggies.

Joining the mix and expected to contribute this season are seven talented newcomers led by local products Alex Caruso (College Station, Texas) and J'Mychal Reese (Bryan, Texas).

Fellow newcomer Fabyon Harris, who comes to Aggieland after two seasons at the College of Southern Idaho, impressed during his first appearance wearing the Maroon & White by scoring a game-high 28 points in an exhibition victory over Incarnate Word on Saturday.

Louisiana Tech comes to College Station after an 18-16 campaign a year ago that saw it finish fifth in the WAC with a 6-8 league mark. The Bulldogs, who are guided by second-year head coach Michael White, return nine letterwinners and three starters from last season and were picked to finish fourth in a preseason poll of the WAC coaches.

Texas A&M and Louisiana Tech have meet just five time previously on the hardwood, with the Aggies holding a 3-2 edge in the all-time series. The most recent meeting came on Nov. 18, 2006, when the 12th-ranked Aggies defeated the Bulldogs 75-59 inside the friendly confines of Reed Arena.

Tickets for Friday’s game are available on game day at Reed Arena or by logging onto tickets.12thmanfoundation.com.

Season tickets are on also sale and fans are encouraged to make sure they have a seat for all the exciting Aggie basketball action by visiting the 12th Man Foundation's Ticket Center or calling 1-(888)-992-4443.
