ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Missouri coach Gary Pinkel is constantly asked to compare the SEC and the Big 12, the league his No. 9 Tigers left two years ago.
SEC East champion Missouri (11-2) will face Big 12 foe Oklahoma State (10-2) in the Cotton Bowl on Friday night.
Pinkel says both leagues have great teams, but the SEC has more. He diplomatically pointed out Thursday that there are 14 teams in the SEC. The Big 12 has 10.
The SEC has won nine of the last 10 Cotton Bowls against Big 12 teams. The Big 12 team to win was Missouri six years ago.
No. 13 Oklahoma State missed out on the Big 12 title and a BCS game this season with a home loss to Oklahoma in its last game.
