BRYAN, TX -- Normangee I.S.D. Superintendent Jerry Burger told KBTX Sports Thursday afternoon that the School Board will vote May 31st at 6pm on the hiring of Kevin Morton as the Panthers new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.

Morton comes to Normangee after four seasons as the offensive coordinator at Mildred. Last season the Eagles advanced to the Class 2A State Semifinals and averaged 57 points per game.

This will be Morton's first head coaching job. He has also made coaching stops at Palestine and Marlin.

The 40 year old Morton was a member of the 1989 Mexia Black Cat football team that won the Class 3-A State Championship.

Morton caught a 4th quarter touchdown pass that tied the game at 21 against Vernon that Head Coach Norman Cobb and the Black Cats eventually won 22-21.
