BRYAN, Texas -- The Mumford Mustangs have advanced to the UIL Boys' State Basketball Tournament for a second consecutive year and hopes what they learned from their first trip last season pays off as they again look to claim the school's first team state championship.

The Mustangs bring a 38-0 record into Thursday's Class A Division 1 Final Four game against San Augustine (23-6). Tip off is set for 10am at the Erwin Center.

The winner of the second 1A Division 1 semifinal game will take on either Dallas Triple A (26-5) or El Paso Harmony Science Academy (26-3) in the State Championship game on Saturday at 8:30am.

Triple A and El Paso Harmony open up the state tournament at 8:30am Thursday.

Mumford punched its ticket to the state tournament following a 51-38 win over district rival Milano last Saturday afternoon in New Braunfels in the Region IV Championship game.

Mumford is the only team at the State Tournament that has a chance to complete a perfect season. A year ago they were also unbeaten when they arrived in Austin, but lost in the state championship game to Clarksville.

Over the last 2 seasons Mumford is 75 and 1 and going back over the last 5 years they're an impressive 164 and 16.

KBTX Sports will be in Austin tomorrow with the Mustangs and will have twitter updates @KBTXSports and @DarrylBruffett. We'll have highlights of the Mustangs state semifinal game during News 3 @ Noon and expanded coverage at
