Mumford beats Big Sandy in Cotton Christmas Classic

MUMFORD, Texas -- The Mumford Mustangs beat Dallardsville Big Sandy 71-41 in a battle of top 10 teams on Friday at the Mumford Cotton Christmas Classic. Mumford is ranked number 2 in Class 1A. Big Sandy is number nine.

Aubrie King led Mumford in scoring with 16 points. Seth Smitherman added 12 points for the Mustangs. Lakendric Hyson had five assists. Jamarcus Ricks recorded three steals. Mumford is now 20-0 on the season.

The Mumford Cotton Christmas Classic will wrap up Saturday. The first game of the day will tip-off at 10:00am with Calvert facing Temple JV. Hearne will take on Thrall at 11:30am. Big Sandy and Temple JV are scheduled to tip-off at 2:00. Calvert will play Thrall at 3:30pm. The final game of the event will feature Hearne facing Mumford at 5:00pm.
