When the Navasota girl's basketball team got off the bus prior to their game with Taylor on Friday they were in a first place tie atop of the District 18-AAA. Following a stunning Taylor 58-54 win the Rattlers climbed back on the bus finding themselves in 3rd place.
The Ducks scored the games first points and Navasota battled the rest of the night. The game had 11 lead changes and 8 ties. Navasota's biggest lead was at the end of the third quarter 43-39, but Taylor outscored the Rattlers 19-11 in the last 8 minutes to claim the win.
The Big Blue gave up 23 offensive rebounds to Taylor as the Ducks converted 11 of them for 22 points. Navasota also had 26 turnovers resulting in 14 Taylor points.
Three Rattler's scored in double figures. Harley White had 15, Tashyra Banks had 14 and Molly Love with 11. Senior Shakara Spriggs had her career high with 8 points while Denisha Ford, Jasmine Wilson and Kalandrea Jefferson each had 2 points.
Despite giving up 23 offensive rebounds, Navasota outrebounded Taylor 56-47. Banks pulled down 20 while Spriggs, Love and Dee Dee Robinson grabbed 7 each.
Denisha Ford had 9 assists.
The loss snaps an 8 game win streak and drops the Rattlers season record to 23-4. More importantly, they are 2-1 in District 18-AAA play.
The Rattlers continue on the road on Tuesday when they travel to Madisonville to take on the undefeated Mustangs.
