No. 7 Mexia holds off No. 9 Madisonville in 3A Girls' Area Playoffs

CENTERVILLE, Texas -- Mexia got past Madisonville 54-49 in a battle of top ten ranked teams in a 3A Area playoff game Friday night.

The Ladycats led 15-13 after one, but Madisonville took a 28-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.

However, Mexia went ahead to stay in the third, leading 40-37 heading into the fourth and holding off the Lady Mustangs to advance to the regional quarterfinals.

Madisonville ends a successful season with a 24-6 record. Mexia improves to 31-3.
