NOTES AND NOTABLES

• Tuesday’s scheduled starter Dylan Mendoza will be making his second start this season against the Mavericks. The lefty received the starting nod for March 30th’s contest in Arlington and got a no-decision after allowing one earned run in three innings of work.

• Sophomore outfielder Tyler Naquin saw his career-long 27-game hitting streak come to an end during Sunday’s contest against Nebraska. The Aggie right fielder walked four times in the contest and struck out in his lone official at bat. The four free passes tied an A&M record for most in a single Big 12 game.

• Naquin’s incredible streak leaves him second place in the Texas A&M record books, just one behind R.J. Englert, who set the school record by hitting in 28 consecutive games in 1972.

• Senior Andrew Collazo has provided a spark for the A&M line-up by starting the last eight games at second base. The Paterson, N.J., native has a .500 on-base percentage during that time with eight walks, six sacrifice hits and nine runs scored. Additionally, he’s a perfect 3-for-3 on the base paths.

• Junior pitcher Ross Stripling has won each of his last six starts during a stretch that began on April 10 at Texas Tech. He is currently one of only two Big 12 pitchers (Taylor Jungmann of Texas) to have earned 11 victories on the mound this season.

• On May 12, it was announced sophomore outfielder Tyler Naquin had been named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team for the upcoming summer. He joins teammate Michael Wacha, who was named to the team on April 18.

• Freshman outfielder Krey Bratsen is currently on a seven-game hitting streak and is hitting .462 (12-for-26) during the run.
