A&M/MISSOURI SERIES NOTABLES

Texas A&M holds a 40-28-1 advantage in the all-time series with the Tigers which has been a tightly contested one since the formation of the Big 12. The two schools are 22-22 against one another since becoming league foes in 1997.

The Aggies have won three of the last series against Missouri but the lone series loss came during their last visit to Columbia in 2009 when the Tigers took two of three games at Taylor Stadium.

UP NEXT

The Aggies make a quick road trip to San Antonio to take on UTSA on Tuesday before hosting Dallas Baptist in a three-game non-conference series at Olsen Field.

NOTES AND NOTABLES

• Sophomore outfielder Tyler Naquin brings a career-long 17 game hitting streak into the Missouri series. The run is the longest hitting streak by any player in the Big 12 this season and is Naquin’s third separate run of eight or more consecutive games with a hit this season.

• Texas A&M has won six straight series to begin Big 12 Conference play for the first time in school history. Overall, the Aggies have not been on the losing side of any three-game weekend series this season.

• On April 18 it was announced that sophomore pitcher Michael Wacha was named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team for the upcoming summer. He becomes the first Aggie to represent the red, white and blue on the baseball diamond since Daylon Holt in 1999. Wacha’s skipper this summer will be sitting in the opposite dugout this weekend as Missouri head coach Tim Jamieson has been tabbed to lead the Collegiate National Team.

• Senior closer Joaqin Hinojosa has been selected to the midseason watch list for the seventh annual Stopper of the Year Award on April 21. The Aggie right-hander joined a list of three other Big 12 pitchers (James Allan of Kansas State, Corey Knebel of Texas and John Neeley of Texas Tech) to be named to the list by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

• Senior shortstop Kenny Jackson is the only Aggie to have played every inning at his position this season. Jackson had shared the distinction with first baseman Jacob House, who was lifted for a pinch hitter in the eighth inning of April 22’s game against Oklahoma State.

• For the season, the Aggies lead the Big 12 and rank among the national leaders in team earned run average with a 2.22 ERA as a pitching staff.

• The Aggies are 28-6 this season when scoring two or more runs and 23-2 when scoring four or more runs. A&M has lost 11 games this season with six of the setbacks being of the one-run variety.

• Texas A&M has held its opponent to two runs or less in 24 of 41 games this season.

• The Aggies have been a model of consistency this season, having enjoyed six different multi-game winning streaks, including a season-long nine-game run in late March-early April. Only twice this season has Texas A&M lost consecutive games, the longest skid being just three games.
