PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) - Jourdan DeMuynck had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Jules Montgomery added 14 points as Prairie View A&M held off a late Alabama State rally for a 74-72 victory on Saturday night.
Carl Blair had 13 points and 10 assists and Josh Eleby 10 points for the Panthers (8-13, 3-5 Southwestern Athletic).
Alabama State trailed by 16 points with 6:28 remaining but was within 73-72 and had a chance to take the lead with three seconds left. However, Denzell McDaniel lost his footing in traffic, and the ball rolled out of bounds.
Bobby Brown scored a career-high 19 points and Joshua Freelove added 15 for the Hornets (6-15, 4-4), who made just 13 of 26 free-throw attempts. Brown had 10 rebounds.
