The Navasota Rattler girl's varsity basketball had to come from behind to pick up their win tonight against Rockdale. Trailing by six at the half, the Big Blue used a strong defensive effort and controlled the boards in the second half to secure a 46-41 victory. The win improves the Rattlers' record to 2-0 in District 18-AAA and 23-3 overall. It extends their winning streak to eight games.
Sophomores Molly Love and Tashyra Banks led Navasota in scoring with 14 points each. Denisha Ford added seven points while Kalandrea Jefferson chipped in four points and Harley White scored three points.
Rockdale's junior guard Velma Mitchell led all scorers with 23 points. She had 19 points at the half.
The Navasota junior varsity picked up a win also defeating the visiting Tigers 32-25. Talia Griffin paved the way with 14 points while Katy Dockery had seven points. Olivia Lemon and S'dny Goodman chipped in five points each.
Both teams will be back in action this Friday when they make the long road trip to Taylor.
