Round Top-Carmine, Leon Headed to State Volleyball Tournament

A year ago Burton beat Round Top-Carmine in the regional final to punch their ticket to state, Saturday the same two teams meet again.

Cub Gym in Brenham jam packed with volleyball fans Saturday afternoon.

Round Top takes the final game in three sets: 25-14, 25-17, 25-15.

After missing out in last year's championship, the Cubette's are headed back to the tourney.

"We've waited 364 days for this," said Round Top Head Coach Tanya Nygrin.

"I know at least I have, and I think this community has too. We thought we let it get away last year and since that day these kids have been focused on getting their championship and today they did that," she continued.

Now the Cubettes head to Garland next weekend for state tournament play.

Leon is also state bound after sweeping Iola in the region three final in Longview. The Lady Cougars took the match 26-24, 25-20, 25-21.

In 2A Centerville could not punch their ticket to state, falling to White Oak 25-22, 25-20, 25-27, 25-17.
