BRYAN, Texas - The Florida Gators are preparing for year three under head coach Will Muschamp. The Gators enjoyed success a year ago finishing 11-2 and earning a spot in the Sugar Bowl.
This season Florida has six offensive starters back including quarterback Jeff Driskel. He threw for 1,646 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. Driskel also ran for 413 yards and four touchdowns. Quinton Dunbar is the only starter back at wide receiver but Driskel seems to be comfortable with the weapons he will have this season. "We have a lot of young guys that are returning that didn't get too much playing time last year but they are experienced that have been through it they know what to expect week in and week out and our running back will be featured in the passing game as well and the tight ends. We have four of them so we have a lot of depth at tight end but there is definitely not one guy I would say who we are going to feature. I would say it definitely a team effort there."
If the Gators want to claim an SEC East Championship they will likely have to beat preseason division favorite Georgia. The Bulldogs have knocked off Florida the last two years, something Muschamp takes responsibility for. "In my two years at the University of Florida we had our opportunites and you give them credit. We didn't make the plays or coach well enough in the situations to win the game. That is frustrating for the Gator nation, frustrating for our football team and that falls on my shoulders."
Florida will face Toledo in their season opener August 31 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
