SEC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (April 1 – April 7)

SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Molly Fichtner - Alabama
C • Jr. • Houston, Texas

Against what was the NCAA leader in ERA entering the weekend Chelsea Thomas, Fichtner batted 7-for-8 (.875) with three runs, a home run and five RBIs. The home run was her first as a member of the Crimson Tide. In the series opener against Missouri, Fichtner batted 3-for-3 with a RBI. In game two she batted 1-for-2 before having a career day in the series finale. The junior batted 3-for-3 with two runs, four RBIs and her first Alabama home run. Fichtner added two walks last week for an .818 on base percentage and slugged 1.111.

SEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Ellen Renfroe - Tennessee
Jr. • Jackson, Tenn.

Renfroe went 2-0 on the week, earning wins in two starts against Georgia and tossing 3.1 relief frames of no-hit ball. She earned her first save of the year against Tennessee State and the win over Georgia on April 4 marked her seventh complete game of the year. The junior struck out 17 batters over 16.1 frames and limited opposing hitters to a .113 average.

SEC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Bianka Bell - LSU
SS • Tampa, Fla.

Bell had a solid week and secured RBIs in every game to bring her streak to eight consecutive contests with a RBI. She added a pair of multi-hit efforts which included her team-leading ninth home run of the season. Her sacrifice fly during the third inning and her two-out RBI single in the fifth inning played key roles in LSU’s comeback wins over Florida State and Arkansas, respectively.
