HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- The 2014 Sam Houston Baseball Banquet and Auction will be held Saturday, February 8 at the Lowman Student Center.
Doors open for the event at 5 p.m. Dinner is at 6 p.m. The silent auction will end and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
A limited number of tickets for the event still remain. The price is $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10.
The event will feature a live and silent auction as well as a preview of the 2014 season and team introductions. Proceeds from the event will go to the Sam Houston baseball enrichment fund.
Steve Sparks will be the featured speaker. Sparks earned first team All-Gulf Star Conference honors as a Bearkat in 1987, helping lead Sam Houston to a conference championship and the University's first NCAA Division I Regional appearance.
A fifth-round draft selection by the Brewers, Sparks played for Milwaukee, California, Detroit, Oakland and Arizona.
Sam Houston State is two-time defending Southland Conference baseball champion. The Bearkats have earned consecutive at-large berths in the NCAA regionals.
"Each year this event gets bigger and better," SHSU head coach David Pierce said. "We look forward to seeing everyone come out and help us get the 2014 season off to a great start. With back-to-back Southland championships and NCAA tournament appearances to celebrate plus the opportunity to meet our team for this season, it's going to be a lot of fun."
